As a third-generation carpenter with over 28 years' experience, I trained through a four-year apprenticeship and have worked exclusively in construction ever since, gaining wide experience in efficiency and methods while working abroad. For the last 15 years I have focused almost exclusively on loft conversions and complex roof building, now working solely in Peacehaven to provide the high level of service every customer deserves.
We are fully insured with public liability, employers' liability and professional indemnity insurance, with copies provided at the start of every contract.
We work with two architects, one producing hand-drawn plans and the other using Computer Aided Design; drawings are not always required.
Planning permission is not usually required, but where it is we handle the application and any appeals on your behalf.
Project-specific calculations are used on complex jobs, with all work checked by our independent building inspector.

A floor-to-ceiling height of 2.1 metres or more makes a good room, and even 2 metres is usable; if the loft measures around 2.4 metres from the plasterboard to the underside of the ridge, a conversion is usually possible.
The average loft conversion takes 8-10 weeks, with most work done through an access hole in the roof until the new stairs are fitted.
Most of the work can be carried out in almost any weather, and a temporary scaffold roof is often used to prevent water ingress, usually without adding extra cost.
We rarely need to enter your home until it's time to fit the stairs, so there's minimal disruption until the final two or three weeks of the job.
Prices are fully inclusive and set out in a detailed schedule of works; VAT applies only to materials, professional fees and VAT-registered operatives, roughly half the job.
